Mitchel “Mitch” Henry Gagne was born on July 19th, 1948, in Claremont, New Hampshire to Leo and Therese Gagne. He attended St Mary’s Patriarchal & Steven’s High and worked at Joy Manufacturing & The Eagle times in Claremont.
He married June Watts on June 22nd, 1968. They had three children together: Jeff, Matthew, and Amber. They moved to Omaha, NE permanently in 1973 where they lived together until June passed in 2001. They spent many years with their family attending events and spent many memorable weekends at their cabin on the river.
Mitch married Kathy Mayberry Becker in 2003. The couple lived in Omaha and took many trips together until Kathy’s passing in 2018.
In Omaha Mitch held roles at Enron, Lozier, and retired from The Home Depot in 2019.
Mitch was a woodworker and Amateur “Ham” radio operator enthusiast (call sign N0AZF). He made many lifelong friends in both groups. He was a long-time member of the Ak-Sar-Ben Amateur Radio Club and participated in many public service events with the Red Cross Disaster Communications Services. He was a regular patron to Aussie’s Pub in Omaha where even after he quit drinking in 2022, he still enjoyed visiting his family of friends there that all loved him. Mitch was a lifelong musician taking after his father. He played in traveling bands in his teens and continued to play in bands with both of his sons. In his later years, his passion for music outweighed his struggles with lifting a bass and he picked up the ukulele. He had so many his family joked he was trying to start another band.
Mitch is preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, his wife Kathy, and his grandson Cody. He is survived by his sons Jeff (Kim), Matthew (Lindsay), and his daughter Amber. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Martha), his sisters; Linda, Pauline (Bill), and Doris (Mike), stepsons Stephen and Jon (Mariah), grandchildren: Cameron, Matthew, Haley, Dylan, Ava, Aaron, Tyler, and Brooke, great grandson Jason, and many family and friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled at Good Shepherd on November 15, 2024, 4-6pm. A second celebration of life will occur at Mitch’s request at Aussie’s Pub on November 17, 2024, 12-4pm.
