Norman Glen Hoppmann, 87 of Elkhorn, NE, died Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16 at 10:00 A.M. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Elkhorn, NE. Internment will be held Tuesday afternoon in Pilger Cemetery, Pilger, NE. Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. at Lord of Life.
Norman was born January 9, 1937 in Garden County, NE. He graduated from Lodgepole High School and Concordia Teacher’s College, Seward, NE. After graduation he and Jeanette Stuthman were married on July 31, 1960 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wisner, NE.
He was a principal and teacher in Lutheran schools in Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, and Indiana. In 1987, he attended Concordia, St. Paul, MN and became director of Christian outreach in Watertown, WI. Norman retired in 1999 and built their retirement home in Columbus, NE. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, spending time with family, and teaching Bible classes.
After retirement, Norman was heavily involved with Laborers for Christ as a project manager and completed 16 building projects including new Lutheran churches and school additions all across the Midwest.
Norman is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Elkhorn, NE. Four children: Dan and wife Beth Hoppmann of Concordia, MO. Jon and wife Theresa Hoppmann of Dalton, WI. Karen and husband Scott O’Brien of Broomfield, CO and Sara and husband Joe Conrad of Valley, NE. Norman also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Paul Hoppmann and wife Jessica, Brandon Hoppmann and wife Ashley, Emma Hoppmann, Keenan and Kaden O’Brien, Quinten, Payton and Owen Conrad. Cora, Eden and Elowen Hoppmann. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lydia Hoppmann and six brothers Duane, Melvin, Lyle, Marvin, Mervin and Albert Hoppmann.
