Patrick Jon Kunasek was born October 28, 1961 and passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 62.
Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Donna Kunasek. His spirit will live on through his children, Carrie Christensen, Dane Kunasek, and Will Kunasek; grandchild, Chase Kunasek; brothers Steven Kunasek, Michael Kunasek and Daniel Kunasek; sister Linda Kunasek Lindgren; niece, Anna Barnhart; nephews, Thomas Barnhart and Noah Oellerich Kunasek.
In 1980 Patrick "Pat" graduated from Burke High School where he was on the diving team and was well known for practical jokes and pulling pranks. In 1984 he married Nancy Karst, his wife of over twenty years, and moved to Spokane, Washington where he had his three children and worked for Freeborn Tool Company for over three decades. At Freeborn, he made custom wood cutters for companies such as Jack Daniels so they could create their whisky barrels. His work there inspired him to become a woodworker himself where he hand cut and painted Christmas tree ornaments, beautiful signs and home decor, as well as intricate model cars and portraits.
Aside from woodworking, Pat enjoyed spending time watching football, drag racing, and assembling and racing RC cars. Another hobby that brought him joy was fixing up and restoring cars, such as his 1926 Ford Model T, with his friends and two sons. And ever since Pat was a child, he took pleasure in traveling and exploring the outdoors. He loved to take his children on local hikes and to places such as Yellowstone National Park.
For those who knew Pat, you know he regularly struggled with his health. But he never let that overshadow his positive and optimistic outlook on life. He had a carefree and an easy going soul. Always cheerful, telling amusing stories, and laughing. He was incredibly personable and admirably the kind of person who could make friends with anyone. May he forever be remembered for his kind and giving heart.
