Ramona was born on February 22, 1953, as the 4th child of 8 children. Ramona loved growing up with her large family where many memories were created under Grandmother, Emma Johnson's roof on the block now known as "Bryant-Fisher place". Ramona was known for never missing her daily household chores, however, avoided the chore of chasing after and catching Grandma Johnson's chickens. Ramona preferred being a caregiver and was known for being the babysitter in the Brown Park neighborhood. In addition, Ramona enjoyed spur of the moment visits to Chicago, Illinois to visit her father.
Ramona was a dedicated and "did not take any mess" mother. Her children quoted their mother often saying, "Wherever I go, my children go" On the other hand, you would often hear her yelling, "Don't you slam my door" or, "Don't you let anyone in my house"! All the while her broom was in hand that was used for sweeping the floor one minute and giving out a whooping the next!
Ramona's nurturing spirit began to re-appear as she welcomed 11 beautiful grandchildren and one great granddaughter, and her patience for taking no mess appeared stronger than ever! Overall, her love and desire to be surrounded by her family, children, and grandchildren continued to be fulfilled.
Some of the words to describe Ramona: Beautiful, sunshine, bold, dare-devil, dressed to impress, family oriented, outspoken, dancer, Firefox, reliable mother and dedicated grandmother are just a few words to describe Ramona, our sister, mother, grandmother, friend and our now angel.
