Rebecca L. Wilcox, born in December 1958, was the daughter of Lucille “Lucie” J. Wilcox and Allan M. Wilcox. Becky passed away peacefully of natural causes.
She is survived by her sister Victoria Wilcox, her brother-in-law Richard Stratt, and her sister Jennifer Wilcox.
Becky graduated from North High School. She was an Omahan through and through, having lived in Omaha all of her life, except for a stint in Elkhorn.
Becky worked in hospitals for much of her life. For many years, she worked in the microbiology laboratory at Methodist Hospital. After work, she spent many evenings at the Omaha Community Playhouse, where she handled stage management and lighting for various
productions. The playhouse recognized her efforts by presenting her with its 1995-1996 Echo Ellick Top Production Award. Hannah, her dog, even played a small part in one play.
Becky loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She enjoyed horseback riding, and once took a moonlight ride in the Rocky Mountains with her sisters, stopping to sing songs around a campfire with their guide.
Her passion for the theater extended to movies. She was an avid movie watcher, and at one time owned about 400 movies. She also enjoyed reading and cooking. Her desserts were delectable.
After a health crisis, Becky spent her final years at Emerald Nursing and Rehab at Legacy Pointe. The nurses there seemed fond of her and often described her as sweet. That she was, but she was also tough and fiercely independent. Her wicked sense of humor would make everyone around her laugh.
Above all, Becky was thoughtful and did things for others without expecting anything in return.
She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Nebraska Humane Society.
