Reynaldo Sifuentez, Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully at home January 3, 2023 after a year-long struggle with cancer. He was born October 22, 1947 to Albino and Julia (Hernandez) Sifuentez in Zeeland, MI. Reynaldo grew up in Kearney, NE and Texas but lived in Lincoln, NE the majority of his life until moving to Omaha, Nebraska in August 2021.
Reynaldo had many interests and worked a variety of jobs from migrant work with his family to road construction, non-profit (Lincoln Action Program, Indian Center), retail and lastly, Walmart security from which he retired in 2015. Rey loved this last job, as it provided fodder for his story telling. He was a weaver of tall tales and had an infectious smile. His hobbies were enjoying nature and fishing, playing games and cooking for family, and creating bead/knotting work that he readily gifted to others. Reynaldo had a generous and loving heart, often giving what he could to help anyone who asked.
He had a gift of humor and laughter that has been passed on to his children and grandchildren. He is treasured and will be greatly missed.
Reynaldo was preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Julia (Hernandez) Sifuentez, his son Orlando Sifuentez, and his siblings: Herbierto (Eddy) Sifuentez, Tony Berumen & Marylou Berumen.
Reynaldo is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Anderson-Sifuentez of Omaha, NE; daughter, Tearah Kendall, step-daughter, Amelia (Anthony) Ogden; children from previous marriage, Rey (Holly) Sifuentez, Jr. and Yolanda (Oscar Romero) Sifuentez; siblings: Ramon (Dorcas) Rivera and Rosa (Nick, deceased) Berumen of Kearney, NE, Irma Sifuentez of Lincoln, NE and Lupe Pollard of Amarillo, TX; 16 grandchildren; and a tribe of great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews and many, many cousins.
