Robert Broom, Jr. was born in Reydell, Arkansas on August 10, 1946, to the late Robert and Lucille Broom. He is the fourth oldest of 18 children. He later moved to Omaha, Nebraska with his family in 1973.
In 1974, he married his childhood sweetheart, Mae Word. To this union, three children were born Cynthia, Pamala, and Becky, and three children were gained, Wayne, Connie, and Terez. He was a devoted Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Cousin, and Friend.
Robert joined Second Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Harbert Stewart. He was an active and faithful member and later joined People's Mission Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Lorenzo Woods.
Robert was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Robert was employed at Patrick Mitchell Cement before co-owning a painting business, B.M.W. Paint Company, that he later renamed it The Company. Robert loved working with his hands and was also a passionate craftsman who could be found in his workshop during his time off, working on gifts for family and friends.
Robert loved fishing and could be found quite often on the banks bringing his children along with him for the adventure, especially every Fourth of July. Robert also loved watching football and was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune so much that even his grandchildren became fans of the game show.
He is proceeded in death by Robert Broom (father), Lucille Broom (mother), five sisters, seven brothers. and Terez White (son).
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: Sons - Wayne (Lisa) of Omaha, NE and Lenard (Sheila) of Grand Blanc, MI; Daughters - Connie (Lee), Cynthia (Elder Cordell), Pam (Errol), and Becky (Bobby) all of Omaha, NE; Brothers - Sammy J. (Teresa) and Kenneth Ray all of Omaha, NE; Sisters - Joyce Stine and Ellen all of Omaha, NE; 18 Grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; Special Friends - West, David, Joyce, Mary, and Debra; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends
