Ronwick L. Holmes

Ronwick (Ronnie) Lewis Holmes was born on September 21, 1968, in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Billy Torrence and Mildred Torrence. 

 He went to Franklin Elementary School, and Lewis and Clarke before moving to North Carolina in November of 1982. He attended Troutman Middle School in Troutman North Carolina for 7th and 8th grade. He then attended South Iredell High School from 9th - 12th and graduated in 1987.

 Ronnie's first job was at Hardee's and after he graduated, he worked for L&P Plastics in Mooresville.

He moved back to Omaha, in 1995, obtained his CDL License, and drove for Tuwee for 7 years where he delivered the supplies to various movie theaters in Omaha and parts of Iowa. He then worked for Monarch where he transported asphalt for 6 years.

After he had his leg amputated, he started working part-time as a transporter for Hertz Rental Cars for 5 years, and when he had his other leg amputated, he stopped working. 

 Ronnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member at Fellowship Christian Center, Omaha, NE, under the leadership of Reverend Edward (Eddie) Rollerson before the passing of Reverend Rollerson.

 Ronnie met the love of his life Tracy at a bar called Fuzzy's in 1999, where they became the best of friends before they started dating. 

You did not see Ronnie without seeing Tracy. They had a bond that could never be broken. 

 Ronnie and Tracy have a dog they’ve had since she was 6 months old named Honey. He loved his dog, and she was the highlight of his life. Honey always sat under Ronnie and was very overprotective of him. 

 Ronnie liked listening to R&B, Rap, Country music, and watching sports. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, playing cards and dominoes. 

 Ronnie was admitted into the hospital on October 4, 2023, where he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, that led him in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

He came home to hospice on December 30th, 2024, and was surrounded by family and friends until he took his last breath on January 3rd at 1:33 am. 

 Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Mildred Torrence, and sisters Lauretta Holmes, and Rhonda Jackson. Sister-in-law Beatrice “Tiny” Erwin-Hall and step-granddaughter Laterieyana Erwin-Morrison.

 Ronnie is survived by his significant other of 25 years Tracy Erwin, dog Honey, stepkids, Erica, Ciera, Rashad, and Briana, and 13 step-grandkids. 3 sisters, LaJuanta (Diann) Holmes-King, LaShawn (Darryl) Salery of Lexington KY, Anissa Settles, and 1 brother Rickey Holmes. Sisters-in-law, Theresa (Larry) Wells, and Janaun (Marlon) Spiller. 5 nieces, LaTricia (Tricia) Holmes, LaTonya Holmes, Lalvonna King, Vanessa Settles, Shavontae Settles, and 1 nephew Javarr Settles. 

Great Nieces LaRiah Holmes, Ravyn Helm, Kamara Slaughter, Alaila Evans, Braylan Evans, A'Mariana Settles, and A'Yanna Keyes, as well as a host of cousins and other relatives.

Ronnie had many special friends from Omaha & North Carolina with whom he shared a friendship of many years. 

Services will be held on Tuesday (1/14/2025) at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 3809 N 90th Street, Omaha NE 68134. Visitation from 10-11 AM with Funeral Service at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Omaha NE. Services will be livestreamed below.
