Roosevelt Morgan

August 10, 1946 — August 8, 2024

Roosevelt Morgan, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on August 8, 2024, surrounded by family.

Roosevelt was born on August 10, 1946, to William Morgan and Lillie Mae White in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. His family moved to Omaha where he would later graduate from Technical High School. In 1968, Roosevelt enlisted in the Army where he served as a paratrooper and sniper.

Roosevelt was employed at Avaya, formerly known as Western Electric, and he retired in 2001. Shortly thereafter, he was employed part-time with the Westside School District for many years. His reasoning behind this was “I can’t stay in the house with your mama all day.” LOL

Roosevelt enjoyed watching Westerns and WWE on television. He loved spending time with his family, but most of all his great-grandchildren who were his whole heart. Roosevelt passed down his love for WWE to two generations as both his grandchildren and great-grandchildren spent many nights by his side watching it with him. Roosevelt was a fun-loving father and grandfather- often telling funny stories about his Army days and cracking jokes. We never knew if his stories were true or not, because he told so many.

Roosevelt was the epitome of a committed family man. His unwavering loyalty and devotion never ceased. He was adored by his family and was blessed with two daughters, six grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren (with Kaycen on the way!).

Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents, William Morgan and Lillie Mae White, and sisters Flossie Morgan and Jewell Phillips.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Patty J Morgan of forty-five years, his daughters Nicole Mitchell and Verronda Peoples, six grandchildren Nikita Matthias (Leonard), Natalia Liburd (Kashif), India Peoples (Fredrick Jackson, Jr.), Bryant Peoples, Sr., Katrell Nelson, and Kyree Nelson, Sr, and sixteen great-grandchildren, Jaylah Wilson, Lailah Foster, Cameron Matthias, Eniyah English, Caiden Matthias, Carter Matthias, Kelis Nelson, Khloe Nelson, Cassius Matthias, Jahan Liburd, Kailah Liburd, Bryant Peoples, Jr., Kyree Nelson, Jr., Kashif Liburd, Jr., Zyria Anderson, and Kaycee Nelson; siblings, Shirley Scott and William Morgan (Irma), special friends; Freddie and Loistine Ellis, Willie Roach, and a host of nephews and nieces.
