Rosie Mae Smith

Rosie Mae Smith was born on October 18, 1959 in Rosedale, Mississippi. Rosie was the oldest of 5 children born to the union of Ollie Mae Smith and James Steven. Rosie attended elementary and high school in Mississippi.

Rosie later relocated to Omaha, Nebraska in the late 1984. Rosie had several different hobbies that she enjoyed, but the one that she enjoyed the most was being a security guard. Rosie worked as a security guard for a long period of time.

Rosie enjoyed music, dancing, and cooking most of all she enjoyed family time. Rosie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Rosie later joined New Covenant COGIC located at 5325 N. 42nd Street under the leadership of Pastor T.L. Brewer. She enjoyed singing to where she eventually joined the choir.

Rosie departed her life on September 5, 2021 in Omaha, Nebraska. Rosie was preceded in death by her grandmother Emma Smith; grandfather Oliver Smith; aunt Bertha Smith; and uncles Oliver smith and Henry Smith.

She is survived by her mother Ollie Smith; daughter Vermita Smith; sons Kevin Smith, Terrell Smith, Chris Smith, and Terry Smith all of Omaha, Nebraska; 22 grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Smith; brothers Curtis (Denise) Smith, George Smith, and Tony Smith all of Omaha, Nebraska; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a special friend Calais Oliver.
