Rosie Montoya

Rosie Montoya, age 88, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 on The Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 

Rosie was born on August 26, 1936 in Tulare, California to the late Faustino and Mary (Salazar) Montoya. Her father was a field laborer from Mexico and Rosie was born at her fathers workplace, Tagus Ranch in Tulare, California.

Rosie grew up in Reedley, California, the sixth of six children. She married and moved to Artesia, California and had two children, Vanessa (Rufus) Morrison and Steve Ruiz, with her late husband Manuel Ruiz.

In 1983 Rosie moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she lived the remainder of her life.

Rosie, a gentle, loving and humble soul spent her days in prayer and spoke of how she was blessed with two families. She had a great love for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. When someone would ask her for prayers she took it to heart and she prayed devoutly. The rosary was always in her hands or in her apron pocket. To know Rose was to know love and to be loved.
