Ruby Olga Kuncl was called home to Our Lord on October 25, 2021 in Omaha at her daughter's home.
Ruby was born on October 17, 1926 in Prague, NE to Dr. Joseph F. Kaspar and Antionette Jambor. Her childhood home also served as the hospital for the surrounding community.
She attended and graduated from Prague High School. She met and married Charles Paul Kuncl, who preceded her in death on November 8, 1980. Together, they had four children.
Ruby's life spanned an amazing time in history and her work in life reflected that. She was a teacher in a country one room school house, she worked at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant near Mead, NE manufacturing bombs for World War II, and later went to Cosmetology school to be a beautician. Her most cherished "job", by far was Mom, later Grandma and Great Grandma. She wanted family first, and sacrificed everything she could for her children.
Ruby was a tinkerer. She was an excellent cook, she was constantly pulling weeds or planting seeds, she sewed beautifully- including making all of the bridesmaid dresses for her youngest daughter's wedding - there were ten of them! She was fiercely independent and lived out her days at home until the last couple of weeks of her life.
Ruby grew up Roman Catholic, and her faith was very important to her. The Rosary was one of her constant companions.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Pearl Fendrich, Opal Andersen, Joe Kaspar and Oliver Kaspar. She also grieved the passing of her oldest son, Nicholas Kuncl.
She is survived by her remaining children Douglas Kuncl, Debra (Bill) Lang, Sandra (Bret) Geist and daughter-in-law Janice Kuncl. Her life's work of family first now includes eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
We will be celebrating Ruby's beautiful life with a visitation and Rosary at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on November 1, 2021 with visitation from 5-7 and Vigil Service with Rosary starting at 7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague, Nebraska on November 2, 2021 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials to Ruby's favorite causes.
