Sara Moya

April 10, 1968 — February 18, 2024

Sara Lynn Moya was a model of kindness and strength. She left this world on February 18, 2024, in Papillion, Nebraska, at the tender age of 55. Born on April 10, 1968, in Fremont, Nebraska, Sara's journey through life was marked by her spirit of Familia love, friendships and generosity.

Preceding her in passing was her mother, Anne Rickels. Sara's legacy of love and compassion lives on through her children, Marissa (Manny Torres) Moya and David Moya, Jr; her father, Rodney Rickels; her cherished grandson, Mateo Torres; her siblings, Richard (Réka) Rickels, Amy (Paul) Curtis, and Andy (Alli) Rickels; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends whom she considered family.

Sara was a person of extraordinary character-kindhearted, good-natured, and tirelessly hardworking. Her life was a testament to selflessness, as she prioritized the needs of others above her own. Sara was a true servant to the community, extending her hand to those less fortunate or embroiled in life's struggles. Even amidst her own life challenges and constant pain, she rarely spoke of her sufferings, but rather pushed forward despite the adversity. Sara is an inspiration to all who were blessed to be touched by her life.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Sara will be held on Saturday, February 24, from 3-6 pm at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - L Street Chapel. In an effort to continue Sara's legacy of helping others, memorials may be directed to the "Least Of My Brethren" (https://midlandscommunity.org/fund/least-of-my-brethren-fund/) where she volunteered for 26 years. Please send all checks to the following address:
