Shyla Beatty

Shyla Leanne Beatty, 52, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at home on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. 

Shyla was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Roosevelt Wilson, Jr, and Sandra Delores Brown on November 7, 1972. 

Shyla graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, Kansas, in 1990. She had an eye for beauty and completed her Certificate in Cosmetology in 2002. Later, she completed her Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Management in 2012. 

Her last place of employment was with Air Methods Corporation as an Administrative Assistant IV in 2017. 

Shyla fought a courageous battle after getting her cancer diagnosis in September of 2024. Despite the challenges of regaining her strength back from having a stroke in 2016, experiencing kidney failure in 2017, and then becoming a kidney transplant survivor in 2021, she continued forward with unyielding strength and determination. Her resilience shone through to the end. 

She faced each challenge as an opportunity to share the love of God with another. So many lives were touched, changed, and reunited with Christ through her testimony.

Shyla was a beautiful light in this world that reached out to help others. She was a mentor, a prayer warrior, and a woman of great faith who always had an encouraging word. 

She had a passion for good music, books, art, and theology. She had an unwavering love for her children, grandchildren, and family. 

In addition to her parents, Shyla was preceded in death by her son, Harrison Benjamin Mitchell III, and sister, Mary Wilson. 

Surviving is her loving family, including her husband, Juan Beatty; her son, Tahkael Holland and daughter -in-law, Shaleah Busey; her two daughters, Brittiany Holland and Ishyah Holland; three grandchildren, Delores Gappa, Noah Gappa, and Chase Busey; her sister, Tina Pierce; her brother, Franklin Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethel Christian Ministries located at 3702 Giles Road Bellevue, Nebraska 68147, On January 11, 2025 at 11:00AM. If anyone would like to send flowers to the service please feel free to do so at the address above.
