Stan lived with his parents and siblings in Kansas and Oklahoma before they moved to Matteson, Illinois. He enrolled at the University of Kansas where he studied Music Education. Stan met his future wife, Kathy, on a train ride home to Illinois over Thanksgiving break. They married two years later and settled in Topeka, Kansas, where they raised their two children.
Stan spent his career in Computer Science, graduating from Washburn University in 1989 with an Associate’s Degree. He held various positions throughout his career as a mainframe computer operator and migration specialist. It was this career that brought his family to Omaha, Nebraska in 1999, and he worked in this field until his retirement in 2022.
Stan enjoyed listening to and singing various types of music, including 50s-80s rock and roll, classical, and hymns at church. He attended many concerts including the Beach Boys, Elton John, and James Taylor. He was an avid reader whose collection spanned from biographies to science fiction. Stan was a member of the Northeast Kansas Amateur Astronomers' League where he explored his passion for stargazing. He loved playing cards and board games with family and friends, and following his favorite sports teams.
Stan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy Scheid (Chiapetto); children Jen (Jeremy) Wichern and Luke Scheid; parents Delbert and Agnes Scheid; grandchildren Lily and Xavier Wichern; brothers Randy (Lucille) Scheid and Kevin Scheid; sister Renee Lane; and nieces, nephews, and other family.
