Susan Jane Ties was born on October 23, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Wayne “Monk” and Maxine Miller. She passed away on March 2, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by her family.
Susan grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. Attended Jefferson High School and went on to Winona State University where she met her husband, Kent. They raised their three children Travis, Rachel, and Alex in South Minneapolis. In 2000 the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Sue was active in her church. She was heavily involved in The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Stephen Ministries at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She served as the interim director and was on the board for Project Hope.
Sue was an avid quilter, she loved making quilts for family and friends. Enjoyed camping, visiting national parks and traveling the world with family and friends. A devoted grandmother who enjoyed spending time and spoiling her four grandchildren Kaya, Lily, Zoey, and Charlie. Sue’s favorite holiday was Christmas, she loved decorating with her collection of Santas and having everyone home.
Preceded in death by parents Wayne “Monk” and Maxine; and father-in-law LaVern.
Survived by husband Kent; children Travis (Meiko), Rachel (Jordan Hoff), Alex; grandchildren Kaya, Lily, Zoey, and Charlie; siblings Marsha, Nan, Scoti (Rita), and Thom (Roger); and her many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Food Pantry or Project Hope.
