Vera Foster

December 13, 1946 — October 22, 2024

Vera Lee Foster was born December 13, 1946 to Isaac James and Willia Mae Dotson in Lebanon, Illinois. She was the fifth of eight children born of this union.

She attended elementary school in Lebanon, Illinois with her siblings. She graduated from high school in 1966 from Lincoln Sr. High School in East St. Louis and went on to attend college at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where she studied Bookkeeping and obtained a degree in Business Administration.

Vera worked for Continental Can Manufacturing company and Omaha Public Schools as a van driver for special needs children.

Vera loved God, the church, and her Family. Vera was a fiercely independent woman, but she ALWAYS handled her own business. She loved her space but, loved her family more. She enjoyed music and reading her bible faithfully.

She lived in Omaha for 50 years before she moved to Madison, Alabama in 2014 to support the vision of Bridgeway Christian Center and was titled “The First Mother of Bridgeway Christian Center.” She returned to Omaha in 2023.

Vera was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Cousin, Friend and to the Torbert Family their Forever Beloved “Auntie”.

She is preceded in death by parents: Isaac James and Willa Mae Dotson, Siblings: Jean Davenport, Isaac James Dotson Jr., Virginia Perry, Brenda Heavens, and Eva L. Jones.

Survived by Daughter Eva D. Jones, Sisters: Ruth White and Valerie Dotson, 3 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The service for Vera Foster will be held on Friday (11/8/2024) at 90th Street Chapel - Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Services will be livestreamed below.
