Vickie Louise Sanchez

On a clear, beautiful Saturday morning, October 1st, 2022, Vickie Sanchez (65) passed away peacefully at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, NE.

She was born on October 14th, 1956 to Mr. And Mrs. Bruno and Julia Burkhardt in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Vickie married Ezequiel (Chale) Sanchez in October, 1982 and welcomed two daughters, Andrea Jorgensen (Shilo) and Raquel Sanchez, both of Omaha, NE.

Vickie worked several jobs typically held by men, including meat packing, home manufacturing, and overnight stocking. A fact she was very proud of.

In retirement, Vickie enjoyed being a grandma to her seven grandchildren, Julia, Veronica, Kitty, Olivia, Sebastian, Landon, and Yesica, all of Omaha. She enjoyed making them donuts, buying them Christmas presents, and slipping them cash.

When enjoying a break from her grandkids, she loved perusing Facebook and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was really good, too!

Her greatest joy came in caring for her daughter, Raquel, who has Down Syndrome. They enjoyed singing songs, learning colors, watching movies, and eating sweets.

In addition to Ezequiel, her daughters and grandchildren, Vickie is survived by siblings Randy (Julie), Jim (Lisa), and Scot (Barbara) Burkhardt, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by both of her parents and sister, Deborah.
