Willie C. Whitfield was born on December 31, 1945 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to the late Willie W. Whitfield and Georgianna Whitfield.
Willie C received his education at Shivers High School in Aberdeen, MS.
He confessed himself to Christ at Daniel Baptist Church at an early age. Willie C recommitted himself later at New Testament Baptist Church in Detroit where he was on the Usher Board and an active choir member, this was one of his many talents.
In his youthful years he sang in a quartet called The Pilgrim Wonders which was formed by him and his siblings.
After high school Willie moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he met and fathered two of his three children with Blanche M. Lewis. Willie and his family relocated to Detroit where he worked at New Haven Foundry then he became employed with Continental Aluminum. Willie C added on to his family with Blanche with their youngest daughter. In his later years Willie completed his legacy with the addition of his son.
Best known for his humor, his bright smile, always keeping laughter around him and the people he met, cheering his children on at school activities, attempting to groom the next family of musicians and playing match maker by introducing both his sisters with their spouses.
Willie loved his family, singing and traveling this being one of the reasons he moved back to Omaha to be with his mother and siblings.
Willie Cs twin brother Willie B Whitfield preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: four children; Lisa Lewis, Angela (Preston) Johnson, Monica Lewis and Ejae May all of Michigan, seven grandchildren; Martiza, OShay, DarNisha, Martez, Jennifer, Camil and Malik and four great-grandchildren; Serenity, Dallas, Hailey and OShay Jr. and three siblings; Catherine (Martian) ODonnell of TX, Flora Mae(James) Randle of MS and Johnnie(Linda)Whitfield of NE a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
