Willie Taylor

Willie Frank La’Mont Taylor was born on Thursday February 6, 1969 in Kansas City, MO to Ruth Taylor and Michael Ladd. Willie came into this world as a gift at 3:56 am weighing 7lbs and 6.5oz and 20 inches long. Willie was the oldest of three children. He was widely known as "Duck", "Franklin", and "Chill Will". Willie succumbed unexpectedly at his home on August 7, 2023.

 

Willie attended Omaha Public Schools, including Belvedere Elementary, Indian Hill Elementary, McMillan Middle School, and South High School, graduating from North High School in 1987. His extracurricular activities included football, basketball, swimming, wrestling, ROTC, and State Champion in Judo.  After high school, Will served in the Army at Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg, in North Carolina. His love for hip-hop included concerts, dancing, rapping, and writing songs. His favorite rapper was Ice Cube. Willie worked many years in the medical field as a CNA and CMA caregiver.

 

Loved ones that proceeded Willie in death include brother Darrell Antonio Taylor Sr.; nephew Adrrell Darrell Taylor, Frank Boo Jr., Jermaine Samuel, and Calvin Shaw Jr.; maternal grandparents James & Magnolia Taylor; paternal grandparents David & Ella D. Ladd; uncles Willie James Taylor, Isaiah Freddie Taylor, Frank Douglas Taylor, David Jr., Raymond, and Larry Ladd; aunts Henrietta Taylor, Linda Taylor, Tonor Taylor, Zenobia Ladd, and Denise Ladd; and bonus brother Terry Young.

 

To cherish Willie’s life and many memories are his children KaViona Taylor and Malachi Goodwin (Nemo); grandson Muddaththir Goodwin; mother Ruth Taylor; father Michael Ladd; sister Talycia Taylor; Aunt Annette Smith, Hattie Towner, and Garnetta Taylor; Uncles James Taylor, Jr., Reginald Taylor, Dorsey Taylor, Sr.; niece Tylor Shaw; godmother Regina Lockheart; goddaughter Victoria Young; godbrother Charles Evans IV; best friend Kimberly Freeman, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
